Dieser Ausruf, der in jüngerer Zeit vor allem im Zusammenhang mit der Frage der Beteiligung deutscher Soldaten an UNO-Einsätzen zitiert wird, stammt von Sir Edward Hobart Seymour (1840-1929). Der britische Admiral war während des Boxeraufstands in China der Oberbefehlshaber des europäischen Expeditionskorps. Er schickte am 22. 6. 1900 mit diesen Worten eine deutsche Abteilung des Korps an die Spitze der Truppen.
